Use products and prices
Understand your catalog and choose how to charge for an offer.
A product describes what you sell. Its plans define how you charge, and its prices specify the amount in each currency. Choose a price from your catalog to sell that offer through hosted checkout.
For example, an online course is a product. You can offer it as a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription, each with its own prices.
Before you start
Configure the product, its plans, and its prices in the Pharos Dashboard. Use an API key for the account and environment where that offer is configured. Your backend needs read permission to consult the catalog and write permission to create a Checkout Session. Keep the key on your server.
Understand products, plans, and prices
Product: what you sell
Use the product to identify the goods or service: the course's name, description, and whether it is active. The same course can have several payment options without becoming several products.
Plan: how you charge
Choose the payment option that matches your offer. A one-time plan collects a single payment. A subscription plan defines recurring charges and any configured trial. A free plan represents an offer without a charge.
For the course, choose the one-time plan for a single purchase or the monthly subscription plan for ongoing access. These choices depend on the plans you have configured.
Price: how much and in which currency
Each plan can have prices in different currencies. A USD price and an ARS price are separate configured amounts for the same payment option. Requesting one currency does not convert the other amount.
Choose an available offer
Start by consulting your products, then choose the plan for the purchase and a price in the customer's currency.
Use an active product with a plan and price that are not archived. A saved product reference can still return inactive or archived entries, so finding it in the catalog does not establish availability for a new purchase.
Treat default plans and prices as configured choices to check. A default can be absent or excluded by your currency or archive filters. Select an available option that matches your offer rather than automatically choosing the first result.
If the plan has no price in the requested currency, offer another configured currency or show it as unavailable. The catalog amount is not a final checkout quote: configured discounts and any promotions that apply to the customer or card affect the amount at checkout.
Send the customer to checkout
For a reusable offer, use a Payment Link. Configure the offer once and share its hosted checkout URL.
For a cart built by your application, use Cart Checkout. Your backend supplies the selected catalog price when it creates a Checkout Session, then sends the customer to the returned URL. For a contextual amount outside the catalog, that flow also supports inline pricing.
Keep a mapping between the offer in your application and its Pharos product, plan, and price. Verify the signed purchase webhook before fulfillment; a successful redirect alone does not confirm payment.
