Customer portal
Give customers secure access to their invoices, subscriptions and payment methods.
The customer portal lets customers consult their activity for your account and use the self-service actions available to them. It is separate from the merchant dashboard.
Prepare the account link
You need customer management access for merchant-generated links and settings access for account branding or domains.
- Review the account name and logo in Settings → Account profile. This branding is shared with the portal, checkout and invoices.
- Use the account access URL
/customer-portal/{account-slug}on your configured portal host. - If using a custom portal domain, configure it in Settings → Domains and follow the displayed DNS instructions. Share it only when active.
- Give customers the account access URL. It requests an email rather than exposing a public customer directory.
Checkout and portal domains are configured independently. A pending or unavailable custom portal domain does not replace the standard portal host.
Invite a particular customer
Open Collections → Customers, select the customer and choose Send portal link. Pharos requests an access email. Open portal link opens a temporary link for the operator without sending email.
Personal links grant access to customer information. Do not publish them, include them in screenshots or share them with another customer. Their access token lasts 30 minutes; request a fresh link if it expires.
What customers can do
After accessing the portal, customers can consult invoices, subscription details and saved payment methods. A payable invoice can lead to its payment flow. Subscription and method actions depend on the current state and supported configuration; review the actions displayed rather than promising every action for every subscription.
Where available, customers can add a card, choose their default saved payment method, change the method assigned to a subscription and pay an eligible outstanding invoice. The portal does not offer merchant plan-change, pause or cancellation actions. Saving a card or changing a default method does not itself settle existing debt.
The customer sees only activity authorized for that account. The account access page asks for email and returns a neutral confirmation even when no matching customer exists.
Verify access
Use a synthetic customer in Sandbox to check the access page, account name and logo, invoice information and permitted actions. Check the final invoice balance after a payment; opening the portal or following a payment link does not settle an invoice.
Troubleshooting
- Link expired: return to the account access page and request another link, or send one from the customer detail.
- Email did not arrive: verify the customer's email, delivery status where available and spam folder. A neutral confirmation does not prove an email was sent to a matching customer.
- Account unavailable: verify the account URL and active domain. Use the standard host while a custom domain is not active.
- No payable invoice or action: inspect the invoice or subscription state in the dashboard.
